Tern Visits the Advanced Manufacturing Show in New York
Friday, June 22, 2018
Last week, members of the Tern Team took a trip up to New York City for the Advanced Manufacturing Show, which highlights the technology advances in the development of medical technologies. So why would a water company attend a medtech event? Because, while it might not seem obvious, the technologies developed to support health and wellness intersect with the regulations (FDA, NSF, etc.) that ensure consumer safety, and that includes water. The product developers in these fields have to consider everything in their designs - from the proof of concept that highlights and confirms new product methodologies to the optimization of the design to withstand the various environments they will encounter.
The UBM Advanced Manufacturing Group packs six shows (Medical Design and Manufacturing, East Pack, Atlantic Design and Manufacturing, Automation Technology, Plastec East, and Quality Expo) into one large event that covers all aspects of product development in the manufacturing realm. The team took to the aisles with a mission to learn and create relationships that would further accelerate Tern’s product development. A key takeaway for the day was identifying more way to iterate our design in order to optimize our production capabilities.
Overall, our team had a great experience at this event, met with a range of current and potential partners in our sweet spot to get an inside look at how the evolving manufacturing industry interacts with startups proposing new technologies in the field. Plus we got a great ferry ride from Weehawken into Midtown!
